San Luis Mission Workshops
Beginning Pine Needle Basketry, February 21 from 10:00 A.M. -1:00 P.M. –
Due to overwhelming public demand, Mission San Luis Interpreter Monica Lowell presents a repeat of the Basketry workshop first hosted on November 22, 2008. Learn the basic techniques of making Southeastern Native American Pine Needle Baskets. The cost for this workshop is $15 for Friends of Mission San Luis Members, and $20 for the general public (materials included in workshop fee).
Pine Needle Decoration of Gourd Bowls, February 28 from 10:00 A.M. -1:00 P.M. –
This class builds upon the skills gained in the Beginning Basketry workshop. Monica Lowell instructs participants in decorating a cured squash gourd bowl with pine needle weaving and other traditional designs. The cost for this workshop is $25 for Friends of Mission San Luis Members, and $30 for the general public (materials included in workshop fee).
